One comment on “Ship of Fools

  1. I saw Ship of Fools when it came out (to a lukewarm reception) in Cambridge. I was quite taken with the Oskar Werner/Simone Signoret romance.

The book by Katherine Anne Porter was announced year after year and was finally published in 1962, and was the best-selling book that year. The book and movie are based on a boat trip that Porter herself took; it’s meant to be a discourse on the rise of Nazism, but that message didn’t quite make it to the screen.
