  1. I always thought this was one of the dumbest, sappiest movies I’ve ever seen. The passing years have done nothing to alter this perception. this film makes me want to puke every time it’s on….but, my mother loves it and delusionally thinks it reminds her of the time when we were all kids growing up! Unbelieveable!

  2. Yeah, like Ken my cynical outlook is still intact. When I was in Salzberg, the hostel I stayed at played Sound of Music every afternoon. I tried to watch it but couldn’t even though I was in the very city it was filmed. (which is an amazing city, by the way).

    • yeah, you know, the scenery was actually quite stunning and I’d like to see the town, just not the movie ever again. thanks, ianthecool, you made me have a great chuckle!

  3. So much hatin’ on The Sound of Music, nice. I was honestly surprised when my cynicism melted and it made the film more enjoyable. Nuns and Nazis really do make a film better for me. And Ian, completely jealous of your stay in Salzberg.

  4. If I’m being honest, I actually thought Bedknobs and Broomsticks did the whole Kids ‘n’ Nazis thing with a bit more flair. And the songs made a bit more sense thematically.

  5. @Jez I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought that Bedknobs and Broomsticks was the superior Kids ‘n’ Nazis romp. At least with Bedknobs you had that crazy animal soccer game with David Tomlinson bearing the brunt as the referee. And at least the Nazis got their asses kicked.
